The shows in the Arrowverse have showcased many deaths throughout the years. Whether it is at the hands of a villain or from natural causes, death is sometimes unavoidable in the series. However, it also seems like many of the characters survive near-death experiences on a weekly basis.

The countless battles that the Arrowverse characters face often produce less than favorable results. From fighting evil speedsters to time-traveling aliens, death is an imminent factor for the characters that live in this world. While some are not so fortunate, the characters that survive have no room for fear and they must continue to fight for the safety of the universe.

10 Clark Kent Almost Met His Demise Early On

Before getting a spin-off that he shares with Lois Lane, Superman had a few near-death experiences. During the events of season 1 of Supergirl, Clark, along with most of the people on earth, was exposed to Myriad, a technology similar to mind control. Eventually, exposure to Myriad would lead to death.

However, once Supergirl flew the Fort Rozz prison, Myriad's power source, into space, it lost its effects on the planet. Superman and the rest of the earth were narrowly saved from a painful death.

9 Mick Rory Tried To Sacrifice Himself To Save His Team

Mick Rory's Heat Wave has had quite a character arc during his time in the Arrowverse. Starting off as a villain in The Flash alongside Leonard Snart, Rory has since joined the crew of Legends of Tomorrow as a time-traveling hero. He proved his heroism during the season 1 episode, "Destiny".

Ray Palmer is attempting to save the team from a bomb, which would require him to stay next to the bomb and die in the process. Rory takes Ray's place and is ready to sacrifice himself for his friends until Captain Cold knocks him out and takes his place. Rory narrowly survived, but his best friend was not so lucky.

8 John Constantine's Bad Habits Nearly Cost Him His Life

The magical detective that travels through time is no stranger to dangerous situations as Constantine faced many deadly opponents on both his show and on Legends of Tomorrow. While it seems like he always has a trick up his sleeve to get out of any situation, there was one foe that almost killed him.

During season 5 of Legends of Tomorrow, it is revealed that Constantine would die of lung cancer in the year 2030. Astra Logue transfers the cancer into his present-day body, but Constantine makes a deal with her to remove the cancer. The scare has since caused Constantine to give up smoking.

7 Kara Danvers's Battle With Reign Could Have Been Her Last

Supergirl-1.jpg

Kara Danvers has been fighting crime and protecting National City for 6 seasons as the Girl of Steel. During season 3 of Supergirl, Kara went up against the villain known as Reign. After a long and difficult fight, Reign was the last one standing and seemingly killed Supergirl.

Kara was taken to the DEO and barely escaped death, thanks to the Legion's futuristic technology. Supergirl eventually recovered and was finally able to defeat Reign by the end of the season, but her original battle with Reign weighed heavily on her.

6 John Diggle's Suicide Squad Team-Up Could Have Been Catastrophic

John Diggle was Oliver Queen's best friend and loyal superhero partner for 8 seasons of Arrow, during which, Diggle came close to death several times. Once, in Arrow season 3, while helping the Suicide Squad on a mission, Diggle, along with the squad and a group of hostages, was almost blown up.

In a final act of heroism, Floyd Lawton's Deadshot helped everyone to safety but was killed in the explosion as a result. With Arrow gone, hopefully Diggle can still make regular appearances in other Arrowverse shows.

5 Eobard Thawne Barely Outran His Fate

Legends-vs-Reverse-Flash.jpg

As the Reverse-Flash, Eobard Thawne has been in his fair share of battles. One of the cases in which the time-traveling speedster from the future almost died was when Eddie Thawne shoots himself in the heart, causing Eobard, his descendent, to be erased from history.

However, due to time travel shenanigans, the Reverse-Flash came back to cause mayhem in both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. No matter what Team Flash tries to do, they cannot ever seem to get rid of Barry Allen's archenemy.

4 Kate Kane Nearly Died Offscreen

It was quite surprising when fans found out that Ruby Rose would not be returning as Kate Kane for season 2 of Batwoman. A new Batwoman was found in the character of Ryan Wilder, who has taken up the superhero mantle. For much of the second season, it was believed that Kate was killed in a plane crash.

However, it was revealed later on in the season that Kate did survive the plane crash but was injured and suffered severe burns. Given a new face by Alice, Kate is now played by Krypton actress Wallis Day.

3 Slade Wilson Got Stabbed In The Eye And Survived

Slade Wilson's Deathstroke has had one of the most intriguing character arcs in the Arrowverse. During the Arrow season 2 flashbacks, Slade and Oliver Queen get into a fight about the death of Shado. Oliver ultimately gains the upper hand and stabs Slade in the eye with an arrow.

While Oliver believes him to be dead, Slade survives and travels to Starling City to wreak havoc for Oliver and his loved ones as Deathstroke. Maybe Oliver should have checked for a pulse before assuming Slade was dead?

2 Sara Lance Has Cheated Death Multiple Times

Sara-Lance.jpg

Sara Lance has perhaps "died" the most out of anyone in the Arrowverse. In addition to actually being killed by Thea Queen under the influence of Malcolm Merlyn and being revived by a Lazarus Pit and John Constantine, Sara has also come close to death a few other times.

In the very first episode of Arrow, while on the Queen's Gambit with Oliver Queen, the boat crashes and Sara seemingly drowns. Sara is later shown to be alive but almost drowns again in a season 2 flashback. At this point, the White Canary might actually be immortal.

1 Barry Allen Almost Vanished During A Crisis

As one of the most popular heroes in the Arrowverse, there is no shortage of threats that The Flash has to face on a weekly basis. Though he has come close to death on numerous occasions, one of the best-known occurrences came during the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event. This death had been hinted at as far back as in the very first episode of the series, with a future newspaper heading that stated that The Flash would vanish during a crisis.

Believing that he needed to die in order to save the world, Barry had accepted his fate and was prepared to face the consequences. However, at the last minute, The Flash from Earth-90 bravely took Barry's place and sacrificed himself.
