Notifications on the website allow the users to receive important updates for a range of applications including calendars, email clients, messaging, ride sharing, social media & delivery services. However, web browser notifications can be used for sending misleading information, promoting malicious software, or breaching personal information.
Google has unveiled notifications User Interface to Chrome that was designed to put control on more that appeared on the mobile & desktop sites. As the users have started feeling the need for it more than before, the tech Giant is now aimed at expanding the feature to prevent abusive notifications from appearing on the desktop & mobile sites.
The tech giant has a plan to launch the anti –abusive notification feature on the 14th of July, followed by the release of Google Chrome 84, which will make sure that the leading search machine’s browser enlists the websites that might be having disrespectful notification permissions right in the notification section. This will be helping the people having their Google accounts to know if the website has notifications.
Commenting on the notifications, the Web Platform Product Manager for Google Chrome has further said that these (notification) permission requests are designed to fool the users into making them enabling notifications. To cite an example, a site can be there that asks the users to click on” Agree to get notifications to” read the contents available on the website that show misleading pre attempts.
These notification issues can lead to something more harmful, including links to malware or malicious software or phishing attacks. Notification Permissions can trick or force the users into enabling notifications. Notifications messages may include fake that appear like chat messages, alerts, or system dialogs. They may include phishing attacks as well, a technique that tries to steal or fool the users into sharing sensitive or personal information.
